Embedding integrity, academic freedom, equality, and ethical responsibility at the heart of university life — across research, governance, and community.
The University of Jordan upholds a strong culture of academic integrity, research ethics, and institutional transparency. Ethics principles are integrated into curricula, governance structures, and campus life to foster responsible citizenship and professional conduct among graduates.
The university has established clear frameworks for research ethics, anti-corruption policies, codes of conduct, and equality — underpinned by a commitment to fairness, diversity, and the rule of law.
The University of Jordan is committed to the principles of scientific research ethics and the internationally recognised regulations governing research involving human subjects — in particular the World Medical Association's Declaration of Helsinki and the Belmont Report. The university is also guided by the principles agreed upon at the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) and the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines, and abides by the law of the Jordanian Food and Drug Administration for pharmacological studies.
All research conducted at the University requires approval from the University's Institutional Review Board (IRB). Scientific research must be conducted with full care for human moral values and respect for human dignity — employing the principles of respect for personal autonomy, beneficence, and justice toward all human subjects involved.
Research Ethics & IRB ›Where students, faculty, deans, and university leadership convene — an inclusive governance body with publicly shared minutes and an open organisational structure.
The University of Jordan Council is the highest governing body of the university, bringing together a broad cross-section of the institution: the University President, faculty members, deans of all colleges, department heads, centre directors, and crucially — elected student representatives. Every voice in the university community has a seat at the table.
The Council meets annually and its minutes are publicly shared, reflecting UJ's commitment to transparent, accountable governance. Decisions made here shape the strategic direction, policy, and institutional priorities of the university — with full representation from across the academic and student body.
